About Us

Sawasdee Time

Sawasdee Time opened on Sukhumvit Soi 33 in 2008, in a space that had previously been a small jewellery workshop. The name was chosen simply — a warm greeting, and a reference to what we work with every day.

In the early years, the work was mostly battery replacements and strap changes, the kind of quick jobs that help a watch shop stay busy. Over time, as clients began bringing in mechanical pieces that needed more careful attention, the focus shifted. We invested in proper equipment — a parts washing machine, a timing machine calibrated for multiple positions, and the tools needed to work on Swiss and Japanese movements without improvising.

Today the majority of what we do involves mechanical movements: complete overhauls, vintage restoration, and the occasional complex repair that takes several weeks and a fair amount of patience. We still do crystal replacements and bracelet work, but we approach those jobs with the same care — because a watch that looks right and runs right is the only result worth handing back.

Our clients include daily wearers who want their automatic kept in order, collectors with pieces that haven't run in years, and people who've inherited a family watch and want it functional again. We try to be straightforward with all of them about what we find, what we can do, and what it will cost.

Our Approach

Inspect first, quote second. We never commit to a price before understanding what the movement actually needs.
Nothing done without agreement. If we find additional issues mid-service, we stop and contact you before continuing.
Parts matched to the piece. For vintage work, we look for appropriate replacements rather than fitting whatever is available.
Written records kept. Every mechanical service results in a written report the client can keep for future reference.
Timing verified over five days. A movement is regulated and observed before any watch leaves the workshop.

Lead Watchmaker

Seventeen years working with mechanical movements, with a particular focus on Swiss ébauches and Japanese automatic calibres. Handles all complete overhauls and vintage assessments.

Khun Nattaya

Case & Restoration Specialist

Responsible for case and bracelet work, crystal fitting, and the hand-refinishing that vintage restoration requires. Trained in conservation methods for dial surfaces.

First point of contact for incoming enquiries and drop-offs. Coordinates the communication between technicians and clients, and ensures estimates are explained clearly before work begins.

How We Maintain Workshop Quality

Component-Level Inspection

Each part removed from a movement is examined under magnification. Worn or damaged components are identified before reassembly, not discovered after.

Electronic Timing Measurement

We use a timing machine to measure amplitude and daily rate across six positions. Regulation continues until the movement performs consistently within an acceptable range.

Ultrasonic Parts Cleaning

Disassembled movement parts are cleaned in an ultrasonic bath before any lubrication is applied. Old oil residue and particulates are removed thoroughly, not just wiped away.

Secure Watch Handling

Watches in the workshop are stored individually in labelled trays. No two pieces share a tray, and each is photographed at intake for reference throughout the service period.

Documented Service Records

A written condition report is produced for each mechanical service. The client receives a copy, and we retain a record in the event of future enquiries about the work performed.

Transparent Communication

No surprises in the final invoice. If the scope of work changes during service, we pause and contact the client with an updated assessment before continuing.

Mechanical watch servicing in Bangkok requires access to the right parts and the knowledge to use them correctly. Over the years, we have built relationships with parts suppliers in Europe and Japan, which allows us to source components for a wide range of movements — including some older calibres that are no longer supported through standard channels. This makes a difference when a client brings in a watch that has sentimental value and needs a part that is no longer commonly available.

Vintage restoration is one of the areas we find most engaging. A watch made in the 1950s or 1960s was built to a different set of standards, and understanding those standards is part of working on it well. When a piece arrives from that era, we approach it with the same kind of care we would want applied to something of our own — unhurried, attentive to detail, and respectful of what already exists before anything is changed.
